In the midst of the monumental madness around the globe, we're delighted to be launching a fresh mixtape series in support of Australia's music industry which we endeavour to become your destination for isolation inspiration.
Whilst recent times around the world have rattled us all, there's no doubting that our homies within the music industry have suffered some of the most immediate and devastating impacts as a result of the worldwide response to the crisis. As of writing, the music industry has lost over $200 million in lost income according to the crowdsourced initiative I Lost My Gig Australia... and apparently that's just the tip of the iceberg.
As a proud supporter of Support Act, the heart and hand of Australia's music industry and sole-music charity down under, this series will become a platform to connect with our favourite artists and raise awareness for the artists, crew and music workers affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
CABIN FEVER 001 FT. MOTEZ
Our first guest is Baghdad-born, Adelaide-based and long-time Cools homie Motez. To tell his story in one paragraph would be impossible - from escaping war-torn Iraq to DJing on the world's biggest stages. This video by The Feed (SBS) sums up the genius behind the music and still gives the crew goosebumps to this day.
CABIN FEVER 002 FT. SET MO
Our second guests are home-grown homies and full-time hustlers Set Mo. Since bursting onto the scene with their certified classic 'White Dress' (which turned 5 on day of this mix release), they've become our office favourites for their stamina sessions, sunset sets and Sesh Mo shenanigans.
CABIN FEVER 003 FT. YOLANDA BE COOL
Our third guests to the series will need little introduction to our crew... as far as back as we can remember the Yolanda Be Cool boys have been a part of the B.Cools family. We've shared half of our name as well as more than our fair share of shenanigans over the years... from tomfoolery on tap on the Burning Man playa to poolside mimosas in Miami, it's safe to say we're better together.
CABIN FEVER 004 FT. BARNEY COOLS DJS
It’s about time we got involved in curing your cabin fever... after some stellar contributions from our home grown homies, we've jumped back on the decks from our seaside WFH set-up on the Gold Coast to bring you the fourth edition of Cools Cabin Fever.
CABIN FEVER 005 FT. NICKY NIGHT TIME
With a sense of normalcy on the horizon around the globe, we thought it was just about the right time for our good pal Nicky Night Time. Since defining our musical formative years as the frontman of electro-pop outfit Van She, Nicholas Routledge has gone onto become one of arguably Australia's most in-demand songwriters with ceaseless club hits.
CABIN FEVER 006 FT. COMMANDEUR
With states rolling back limits and schooners starting to flow, we couldn't pick a better time to be joined by school of Barney Cools alumni and Sydney based drummer and producer Commandeur for a punchy poolside mix to set the tone as we slowly but surely emerge from our isolation hibernation.
CABIN FEVER 007 FT. TORREN FOOT
This week we’re joined by Melbourne-based house artist and label curator Torren Foot for a thumping mix of bass-driven house tracks. Since starting his grind onto the Melbourne club scene almost a decade ago, Mr Foot has emerged as one of the latest locals to hit the big-time with his club anthem More Life topping the global overall Beatport charts.
CABIN FEVER 008 FT. MIAMI HORROR DJs
This pesky pandemic business got you in need of a pick me up? We've brought our our favourite LA-based Australian synth-poppers and panty droppers Miami Horror DJs to take you on a journey to the epicentre of poolside pleasure. We were joined by the man behind the mammoth musical force Mr Benjamin Plant aka the bands producer, synth-lord and bass guitar-slapper to bring their signature baselines and funk to your next lounge-room boogie.
Cools is calling upon our all our music loving crew across the globe to support the industry appeal where possible. With your help, we'll be able to support our music workers through this difficult period and help them be in a position to bounce back louder and throw the biggest post-pandemic party of all time. You can do your bit by donating directly to the Support Act COVID19 Emergency Appeal below.
